Fork Lift Truck Operator Competency

At the AGM members expressed some concerns over FLT operator competency and training. Once staff have been formally trained, tested and certificated, it may be appropriate for you to put in place a formal (recorded) assessment of ongoing operator competence in the use of this equipment.

This could be achieved by arranging for the external re-assessment of operators (every three years for example- as with CITB for example) or for a qualified member of your staff to undertake, in-house, annual competency assessments, or following an accident or incident). I attach for your consideration an assessment record sheet which may allow you to do this latter option.
